Employment Lawyer 2+ PQE - Edinburgh

Innovative UK law firm are looking to hire an additional Employment lawyer with circa 2-4 years PQE to be based in their offices in Edinburgh or Glasgow. This is an opportunity to be part of dedicated, UK-wide Employment law team that has an impressive portfolio of commercial clients. 

Role Profile:

  • The role will involve the full range of employment law and HR support work (contentious and non-contentious) for a wide range of clients across all business sectors.  
  • You will have the opportunity to develop close client relationships and undertake a major role in client work.

  • The firm has a reputation for providing our lawyers with early levels of responsibility within a supportive and stretching environment and they take a genuine interest in your development and provide you with all the support and training opportunities you could hope for, and excellent career prospects.    
  • The employment law team offering includes a bespoke Employment Tribunal claims knowledge hub and claims tracker on a HiQ extranet site. This includes working through the entire process of an ET claim from start to finish and mapping it out into an easy to follow procedure, organising and automating the precedent documents for preparation of the cases, and helping with the project management of claims.   

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience working in a busy, commercial Employment team (undertaking a mixture of contentious and non-contentious work and transactional support).
  • The ability to gain the confidence of experienced HR advisers and managers by providing technically excellent and commercially pragmatic advice.
  • Ideally some experience of immigration issues, or at least an appetite to learn and to develop that expertise alongside core employment expertise. 
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills.
  • Ideally, experience of tribunal advocacy.
  • A commercial and common sense approach. 
  • A keen desire to develop your marketing and business development skills. 
  • The ability to work to deadlines within a challenging environment and to work as part of a team, be confident, personable and self-motivated.
