Top tier international law firm are looking to hire a junior EU/ Competition & Trade Lawyer- this role can be based in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Birmingham.

The team aim to provide innovative, business-orientated solutions to clients, while operating within the ever-increasingly complex confines of regulation, especially in a post-Brexit environment.

 Role Profile:

The team are looking to hire a junior lawyer from NQ to 3 PQE level and this role can be based in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Birmingham (remote-working options also available).

  • You will advise on procurement, subsidies and trade team but also to support the partners and associates nationally, and to advise in a range of sectors for a variety of clients (including central government, local authority, utilities, private sector and funders) on:
  • transactional procurement procedure support, input to procurement “structuring” within the applicable regulatory framework, procurement challenge work, provision of training to clients. 
  • The role will also involve support in relation to advising clients on subsidy control in the UK and EU State aid rules in Northern Ireland and the EU. You will not work on competition law matters but will have an opportunity to work on international trade law (new UK trade remedies regime, WTO regime) which is a new area of growth for the team post-Brexit.

 Candidate Requirements:

  • At newly qualified level, applicants will ideally have completed a seat in a procurement, subsidy control or competition team.
  • Additionally, you should have a good understanding of and genuine interest in procurement and subsidies law.
  • You must be able to demonstrate strong analytical and drafting skills.
