Leading international law firm are looking to hire an additional EU/Competition lawyer with circa 2+ years PQE to join their highly successful team and advise on the full range of EU, Competition, Trade and Procurement matters. This role can be based in either the firm's Glasgow or Birmingham offices. 

Role Profile:

With an exceptional reputation in this field, the firm has one of the largest and longest-established, dedicated team of specialist procurement and state aid lawyers operating in the UK. The team, which operates across all three UK legal jurisdictions and Europe, has been ranked in the highest tiers nationally in Chambers & Partners for public procurement since that category was introduced in 2008 and is described as “one of the most successful and comprehensive public procurement practices in the market". Clients come from all tiers of European Institutions, Central Government as well as NDPBs, Universities, Utilities and private sector contractors.  You will have the opportunity to work on a broad spectrum of projects across the firm's core sectors including Energy & Natural Resources, Infrastructure and Technology as well as Real Estate, Public Sector and Universities. The team advises extensively on procurement, State aid and other European and public law disciplines.

Additionally, the practice is rapidly expanding internationally, and has recently undertaken procurement advisory work in the Middle East, Indian sub-continent, Europe and the West Indies.

Candidate Requirements:

  • You will be someone who has a true passion for EU law and wants to carve out a career practicing in this area. 
  • You will be someone who enjoys taking responsibility for running some of your own client matters, and have the confidence and personal skills to deal directly with external and internal clients, develop client initiatives and grow internal client relationships across the firm.  
  • Previous experience in any or all of public procurement, State aid or EU funding is ideal but not essential.
  • Experience of ideally at least 2 years + PQE, however more junior or senior candidates will also be considered.
  • Enthusiastic, personable and a team player.
  •  Strong commitment to business development (and ideally with some experience in this area too, e.g. bids, presentations, training).
