Exceptional role for a Competition Associate to join one of the largest Competition Teams in Europe, based in their offices in the city of London. 

Role Profile: 

  • The EU/ Competition team at this major international law firm, handles a broad range of high-quality work including UK, EU and international merger control, competition investigations, competition litigation, behavioural advice and a wide range of regulatory and trade work. 
  • The team also advises extensively on public procurement matters, state aid, utility regulation, foreign direct investment and CMA consumer enforcement issues.
  • The EU/ Competition team consists of 5 partners and a team of 12 other fee-earners based in London and Edinburgh and is part of a wider worldwide Competition Group. This is therefore an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further their career in a dynamic and internationally focused team.
  • Associates are encouraged to take on high levels of responsibility and client contact is encouraged- From day one your role will include business development activities within the team and across the firm’s sector groups. 
  • The team also undertakes a significant amount of cross-border work, cooperating on a daily basis and will include some travel. 

Candidate Requirements:

The team is currently expanding and is looking for a motivated, ambitious Associate with circa 3-6 years PQE to be based in their London office.  The firm are looking for a candidate with a passion for competition and regulatory law and, in particular, with an interest in working closely with the firm’s highly rated Technology, Media,  Life Sciences, Energy, Consumer Products / Retail and/or Financial Services teams, where they are seeing a continued increase in competition-related instructions.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Circa 3-6 years PQE;
  • Solid background and experience in UK and EU competition law, and a willingness to learn public procurement, state aid and trade law;
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills;
  • Strong commercial acumen and be able to provide clients with focused strategic advice.
