Leading technology and innovation company within the renewables sector is looking to hire a Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal team based in Glasgow.

Role Profile:

  • As Legal Counsel, you will be a key member of the Legal Department, supporting it in providing a range of pro-active legal support in addressing legal implications and compliance issues across the business.  You will also be responsible for negotiating and drafting commercial contracts and research and development agreements under the supervision of the General Counsel.
  • Providing a full range of pro-active legal support and advice across the business, primarily supporting operational project activities.
  • Engaging with the business to build credibility and trust, whilst supporting them in addressing legal implications and compliance issues.
  • Negotiating and drafting a wide range of contracts from commercial matters to research and development agreements including input on intellectual property matters.
  • Liaising with, and managing, external counsel and other professional advisors as required.
  • Supporting the Legal Department in the resolution of legal issues that face the business from time to time.
  • Ensure delivery of high standard of legal services to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively monitor ways to add value or efficiency to the Legal Department and wider business.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A Qualified solicitor in Scotland or England & Wales- Circa 1-5 years PQE.
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial contracts.  Some experience gained in IP, research & development agreements, subsidy control/ state aid or procurement law would be desirable not essential.
  • Analytical and problem-solving based approach to solving unique legal issues.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability and willingness to build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Desire to “own a problem” and take responsibility (with appropriate support) for finding solutions.
