Excellent role for a commercial lawyer to join an award-winning cybersecurity business. Role will be based in Edinburgh with hybrid working on offer. 

Role Profile:

  • You will report directly to a member of the senior leadership team.
  • You will manage and coordinate the delivery of legal advice and support across multiple business areas and lead legal negotiations for the sales team and customers.
  • You will ensure that your advice is accurate, readily understandable to non-lawyers, delivered at the right time, and remains commercial while minimising legal risks.

Responsibilities: 

  • Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts that are prevalent in the cyber security industry, including master services agreements, framework agreements, statements of work, software and licensing agreements and managed service outsourcing agreements.

  • Identifying key legal risks, advising on their implications for the business and supporting the business by providing pragmatic, solution focused advice.

  • Monitoring and keeping up to date with legislative changes and relevant case law, and responsible for communicating bespoke and practical advice to colleagues within the business, as applicable.

  • Assisted with updating and improving the company’s existing contractual documentation.

  • Assisting in creating an appropriate legal and governance framework for the business and establishing policies and procedures to ensure legal best practices.

  • Advising in relation to risk, governance matters, data protection / privacy and other associated legal areas.

  • Providing legal advice to the company’s managed service and security consulting business units and its other internal support functions such as Sales, Finance, HR and Marketing. Leading and assisting with broader business and ad-hoc legal activities as required.

  • Supporting the renewal of insurance policies and ensuring alignment to contractual obligations.

Candidate Requirements: 

  • Qualified solicitor with 3+ PQE  and a background in commercial contracts law. 

  • Ideally you will have experience negotiating commercial contracts and technology agreements gained either in an established in-house legal team or a private practice firm. Experience and or knowledge of data protection law, intellectual property law and corporate law would be desirable but not essential.
