Leading National law firm are looking to hire a Paralegal to specialise in Licensing Law working for a high-ranking, highly successful licensing team based in Edinburgh. 

Role Profile:

Working with one of the largest Licensing teams in the UK, the firm's client base includes: pub chains; national retailers; petrol forecourt operators; national sporting facilities; sporting bodies; numerous football clubs; celebrity chefs; and large-scale shopping facilities.  The Licensing team sits within the wider Real Estate Group and provide expertise across all the jurisdictions within the UK.

Role Profile:

  • Draft and submit a variety of licensing applications under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005; Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 and the Gambling Act 2005.
  • Diary setting and positive engagement with pursuing licensing/other reports and background strategic work.
  • Prepare documents needed for Board/Committee appearances.
  • Direct client contact and attend client meetings.
  • Relevant client training where required.
  • Work with bespoke Peppermint system (training provided).
  • Keep up to date with diary entries, licence renewal dates etc.
  • Run own matters and keep instructing team member up to date; early responsibility for delivery of applications.
  • Provide support to the wider UK licensing team.
  • Provide all our clients with a high-quality service in accordance with the Firm’s procedures.
  • Maintain and improve relations with existing clients.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experienced paralegal / senior paralegal- Licensing experience would be advantageous, but not essential (training would be provided).
  • Strong file management skills, communication, drafting skills required.
  • Good IT skills, good eye for detail and ability to juggle a busy and varied workload.
  • Excellent communication skills - high volume of interaction via the telephone; high standards of client service essential.
  • Enthusiastic & team approach to working.
  • A desire to learn and develop legal skills in the area of licensing and gambling law.
