One of the world’s leading international law firms with an extensive corporate, commercial and financing practice is interested in speaking with Projects and Construction lawyers with circa 3-4 years PQE interested in a move to the City of London. The firm has an excellent track record attracting lawyers from Scotland and Ireland. 

This is a well established role, working mainly with a Partner, two Senior Associates and junior Associates who are focussed on this practice area. The successful candidate will be required to work with and assist Partners and Associates within the broader Real Estate Group which is made up of 4 partners, 17 Associates and 1 Professional Support Lawyer. The team also works closely with lawyers from across the firm and in particular our Infrastructure, Energy and National Resources practice. 

The work of the team covers the full spectrum of construction and engineering projects ranging from major infrastructure provision and power and energy projects to inner City developments. We have advised on a number of high profile construction projects in the United Kingdom and have considerable experience of projects around the world.

This is a small team offering the opportunity for early and significant responsibility and considerable autonomy while working on major domestic and international deals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting, reviewing and amending the legal and commercial aspects of documentation (including JCT forms) as well as professional appointments and related agreements 
  • Advising on a range of non contentious construction issues
  • An understanding of “bankability” issues in relation to the financing projects including requirements of debt and equity providers
  • Advising on construction and engineering contracts of all types including EPC and bespoke construction contracts, professional appointments, operation and maintenance agreements and technical services agreements
  • Providing efficient professional support for partners
  • Developing professional relationships with clients
  •  Supporting the wider team in developing business and raising the profile of the firm
  • Managing/supervising the work of others including trainees.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Circa 3-4 years PQE and experience working with a large or national firm and experience of construction and large scale projects.
  • ​First rate legal/commercial knowledge and analytical skills
  • Broad exposure across a range of significant construction matters and transactions
  • Experience of energy projects particularly off shore wind projects would be an advantage but not essential.
