Leading international law firm are looking to hire a Risk Lawyer with circa 1-3 years PQE, to be based in Glasgow. 

The Risk & Compliance Team is responsible for ensuring compliance with the firm's professional and regulatory obligations, managing the firm's risk, claims and complaints.

Role Profile:

  • The role of the risk lawyer will be to work with the senior contracts lawyer, drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a wide range of engagement terms with clients, including JV arrangements and consortia arrangements with other service professionals. 
  • Primary responsibilities will include assisting with drafting and reviewing a wide variety of engagement terms and reviewing outside counsel guidelines and drafting appropriate engagement terms for our non-legal business entities.
  • Working with senior lawyer and reporting to the firm's International Conflicts Counsel. 
  • You will also assist in maintaining our suite of proforma engagement documentation and draft new precedents eg non-reliance letters and new engagement documentation for new offices.   
  • You will work with the Head of Quality & Audit to assist with risk training to junior lawyers and trainees and take ownership of other risk streams such as insider lists. 

Candidate Requirements:

The successful candidate will:

  • Have gained experience in a general commercial or corporate environment, either in-house or private practice.
  • Have experience of contract drafting and amending and ability to apply skills to a wide range of commercial contracts for services and equipment, together with a strong appreciation of the key legal issues relevant to the firm's procurement activities. 
  • Be a team player, able to forge strong working relationships with colleagues in an agile environment.
  • Be technically strong and exercise good commercial judgment.
