Excellent opportunity to join the UK tax team of a top-tier law firm working out of their offices in Edinburgh or Glasgow. 

Role Profile: 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join a growing tax practice. 

The role is ideally suited to a tax lawyer, chartered accountant or chartered tax adviser with 4+ PQE and to a candidate who is looking to progress quickly in their career.

You will be joining a growing and ambitious yet friendly team, who work with a wide variety of clients including:

The role offers the opportunity for you to work on a variety of market leading UK and international projects. The team offers extensive training and support to enable you to develop a successful career. Responsibilities will include:

  • You will be involved in providing tax planning and structuring advice to Dentons' clients across a range of areas including advising on corporate structures, business and family wealth planning, UK inbound and outbound investment; as well as dealing with ad hoc enquiries.
  • You will work with our lawyers and clients based in Scotland, the UK and internationally.
  • The role will include providing tax support to other teams within Dentons including, in particular, on M&A, real estate and banking transactions.
  • You will have some exposure to tax litigation matters working with our litigation lawyers.
  • The role will also include advising our clients on employee share incentive arrangements.
  • You will develop your industry knowledge and working knowledge/understanding of relevant areas of law and provide thought leadership externally.
  • You will demonstrate pro-activity in proposing commercial solutions to clients and colleagues, acting as a business advisor.
  • You will run your own matters whilst working closely with partners to develop your skills.
  • You will develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and clients up to the most senior levels.
  • You will have responsibility for managing and supervising the more junior members of the team.
  • You will contribute to the team's business development activities and proactively engage with clients in a social setting, as well as being able to demonstrate an awareness of the Firm's proactive areas and Business Development strategy, identifying and taking opportunities to cross sell.

Candidate Requirements:

  • You will have trained with and gained considerable experience within a leading tax practice and will have substantial experience in providing tax services to clients.
  • A strong tax background.
  • Ability to work with a degree of independence.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Exceptional drafting skills.
  • Exceptional legal research ability.
  • Candidates who are qualified solicitors, Chartered Accountants or Chartered Tax Advisers  (CTA) with strong knowledgein tax are invited to apply.
